1 Counseling

  • Provide smoking cessation counseling with your patients during office visits. To receive reimbursement for face-to-face counseling visits, use proper coding for intermediate or intensive smoking and/or tobacco use cessation counseling.
  • Multiple counseling sessions have led to better success with quitting smoking.
  • Your patients may receive additional counseling by telephone through the CT Quitline, 1.800.QUIT.NOW (1.800.784.8669).

2 Nicotine Replacement Products

  • Inhalers
  • Lozenges
  • Nasal Spray
  • Patch

3 Prescription Medications

  • Bupropion SR (Zyban)
  • Varenicline (Chantix)
